In this neighborhood, where front yards are often larger than backyards, the project 昀氀ips the
typical home orientation. Front yards are transformed into private backyards, providing
residents with more functional and usable outdoor space. By building Additional Dwelling
Units (ADUs) in the original backyards, the design further increases housing density while
enhancing privacy and utility for all residents. The proposal is organized around four key
components: living, utility, egress, and amenity. Each component is modular, measured at 12’ x
12’, and aggregated to foster privacy within a curated co-living community. Shared amenities
are distributed across the site, and each cluster features centralized utility spaces to support
collaborative living. This design creates a harmonious balance between personal privacy and
community interaction, rede昀椀ning suburban living for modern needs.
